Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act (March 2019)

This Act gives English tenants more power than they need ever have to potentially take their property owner (landlord) to court if they need not be restricted a mold, damp, or ventilation problem in their home.

If you are a landlord, there are no new actions that you need to take; you are still under the same obligation, which is that your lettings are fit for human habitation.

If you do not honor this agreement, by (for example) taking care of a report of mold growth from a tenant in an adequate length of time, your tenant has the power to take you to court. It mat also be considered hazardous to health.

We are here to direct you towards specialists (solicitors) that will provide legal support for tenants. If your landlord is deducting unlawful fees from your rent or your home is under repair, we can help.
